* Exclusive selection.
Hanaemaki is a collection of Japanese traditional designs from the city
of Kanazawa, as well as from the Kaga and Noto areas in the prefecture
of Ishikawa. Hanaemaki contains only a selection of the most
sophisticated patterns from an abundant 5000 designs.
* The original and unique, but universal
Japanese designs
These traditional patterns have been used for clothes, furniture,
dishes, crafts, etc., as decorative designs and enriching Japanese life
for hundreds of years. The Japanese artists used local flowers, birds,
wind, and the moon as their subjects, and this art is entrenched in the
daily lives of the Japanese. As European cultures have been penetrating
into their lives, the opportunities to use or see the Japanese designs
have gradually been dissipating. Since these designs are deeply rooted
in local Japanese cultures, they should be recognized and not forgotten.
They are not only original and unique but also universal. In addition,
the traditional designs of Kaga and Noto are particularly beautiful and
colorful. This is because their local craft industries had prosperously
influenced the work of art, and the designs had been refined years and
years.
* The designs taken out of a variety of
daily items
The designs, which are collected by Mr. Shinichi Hanaoka, are mostly
taken from clothing materials such as wrapping cloths, pajamas, and bed
comforters that the Japanese people had used in their daily lives during
the 19th century.
Hanaemaki has been created so that people around world can enjoy this
amazing Japanese art from Kaga and Noto and that it will be passed down
to future generations.
We know that you will feel the excitement of the power, abstraction, and
originality from this cultural art page by page.
